The 2012 Ryder Cup Matches After the success of The 2010 Ryder Cup Matches at Celtic Manor in Wales you can experience the excitement first hand at Medinah Country Club, located close to Chicago, Illinois, for The 39th Ryder Cup Matches. The Opening Ceremony will take place 27th September, with the three days of matches 28th - 30th September 2012. Medinah Country Club Located some 35 minutes from downtown Chicago, Medinah Country Club has hosted three U.S. Opens (1949, 1975 and 1990) and two PGA Championships (1999, 2006); while also the site of the 1988 U.S. Senior Open and three Western Opens [now BMW Championship] (1939, 1962, 1966). The PGA of America announced in October 1998 that Medinah’s No. 3 Course, opened in 1928, would host The 2012 Ryder Cup. No. 3 today is known for its length - when it hosted the PGA Championship in 2006 it was the longest-ever major championship venue (since surpassed) - and thick rough, made more difficult by a plethora of trees. Lake Kadijah comes into play on several holes, with four holes that require crossing a finger of the lake. Three & Five Night Packages Available!
